Mark Of The Beast

The topics of 666 and Mark of the Beast in Revelation chapter 13 are fascinating to say the least. Verse 10 of that chapter mentions the patience of the saints which will be seen during this time, as they patiently wait for the arrival of their one True Savior - Christ Jesus. They will refuse any promises from the imitation savior (anti-christ), which would make them damaged property in GOD’s eyes should they accept satan’s beast government and false salvation. They will refuse of course, because they do know their GOD and His Word very well. Revelation chapter 13 is a warning from The Lord to His people (see Revelation 1: 1-3) concerning the anti-christ and his healed kingdom of Babylon (Babylon = state of confusion).

With so many unsure of the meaning of 666 and The Mark of the Beast, it is necessary to go backwards as it were, to the Greek language in order to gain a better understanding of the translations. Greek is such a beautiful language for defining words and in essence very descriptive. First, I would like to mention how this subject strikes fear and dread in most all who encounter anything related to it in their everyday lives. I have eaten in restaurants and upon paying my bill discovered the total with tax to be exactly $6.66. The cashier would tell me I owe $6.65 instead of $6.66, because they wanted to avoid that number and what they perceive as its significance. After thanking them, I kindly refuse their offer and pay the correct amount, while mentioning it is only a number of description and not indication of a curse. Similarly, our Post Office Box number here at Bible Truth Lion.org is 666 and upon issuance of this box number by the Postal clerk, we were told we could choose a different box. I kindly stated that I have no reservations against that number, as I thought of it (to myself) as an opportunity to have conversations about it’s meaning. Apparently they had tried to issue the 666 box to folks for quite some time, whereas it seems they had not attempted to clean the dust from it for quite a while. I have grown to like this P.O. Box number, as I’m sure some have gained a more thorough understanding of the “666” meaning because I decided to keep it. Praise to GOD.

At this point let’s examine Revelation chapter 13 as we dive right into this study. We will greatly benefit through examining the whole chapter in detail.

Revelation 13: 1-18

1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns [note: Compare Revelation 12: 3 - also see Daniel 7: 6-8 and Revelation chapter 17], and upon his heads the name of blasphemy [note: The words "Sand" and "Sea" are references to the kingdoms of men upon earth (see vs. 7 below), and we know how GOD has mentioned various peoples, tribes, and nations being as the sand of the sea in number. Additionally, Isaiah 17: 12-13 and Revelation 17: 15 tells us the many waters are the nations of earth. GOD has recorded these evidences to inform us that this end-time beast kingdom shall bear rule over all of mankind upon the whole earth and will even initially rise from the nations of earth. They shall fashion themselves into a likeness, or image, of an ancient beast which has tried to make an existence without The Almighty GOD. The ancient beginnings of Babel is the first Biblical account of mankind taking upon himself to become his own savior, and that being after Noah’s flood. Accumulative Scriptural doctrine tells us the dragon (satan) is the force behind these and all blasphemous kingdoms. Furthermore, satan is the recipient of praise, attention, and honor given to every false god throughout history. Quite simply, there is not another entity in existence to receive misguided worship, neither is there any other entity to plot against GOD and His people. satan is the one and only negative force to ever raise a fuss in any generation or civilization - see verse 2 below].

2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard [note: See Deuteronomy 32: 5 and Daniel 7: 6 - The primary feature here, in my mind, are the spots. See Deuteronomy 32: 5 and Jeremiah 13: 23], and his feet were as [the feet] of a bear [note: See Lamentations 3: 10 ◦ Daniel 7: 5 and Amos 5: 19], and his mouth as the mouth of a lion [note: See 2 Timothy 4: 17 and I Peter 5: 8]: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.

3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast [note: As mentioned in another place, this deadly wound was delivered to satan by Christ Jesus after His crucifixion, when the dragon’s head and also his kingdom on earth were bruised from The Lord’s heel, as has been foretold (see Genesis 3: 15). At that time, satan was thrown into the bottomless pit until the time of the end, at which point he will be released, as if that deadly wound is healed - see Revelation 9: 1-12].

4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who [is] like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? [note: This verse is given to us from GOD’s viewpoint. These people which He refers to are deceived into thinking they are worshipping Christ Jesus and His millennial Kingdom (see 2 Thessalonians 2: 10-12), but all GOD sees is them worshipping anti-christ; i.e., the dragon and his beast kingdom.]

5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty [and] two months [note: The Lord will allow that government to prosper for 3-½ years. It is not their own power and neither is satan’s power and authority (see Daniel 7: 7-8, 20, 25 and 8: 23-25). satan is only a tool in The Lord’s hand used for testing, judgment, and punishment (Isaiah 10: 5-34 and Jeremiah 50: 23. Also see Revelation 6: 2)].

6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against GOD, to blaspheme His Name, and His Tabernacle, and them that dwell in Heaven [note: See Isaiah chapter 14, Ezekiel chapter 28, and 2 Thessalonians 2: 3-4. satan decides to take GOD’s plan one step further than intended. The Lord knows satan very well and that the temptation to renounce GOD as his Creator shall be too great. Simply put, satan wants to become god and even tried to get Jesus to worship him as god (Matthew 4: 8-11)].

7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations [note: See Daniel 7: 25 ◦ 8: 23-25 ◦ 11: 30-36 and 12: 7, 10. We see through these reference verses, that the saints of GOD are precisely “in the thick of” the great final tribulation. Who would have thought that would happen? ..... Well, we would have, because GOD has told us all along it would happen. Both sinner and saint are delivered into captivity for testing purposes].

8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world [note: The saints are written in The Lambs Book of Life. Even though they will go into captivity to satan, they shall in no wise worship the imitation savior who will appear as a ministering angel of light to most people (see 2 Corinthians 11: 14-15 and Revelation 2: 9-11)].

9 If any man have an ear, let him hear.

10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints [note: As a man has done, so shall he receive. This is a time in history when the patience and faith of the long-suffering saints shall be witnessed, as they turn many to righteousness by the testimony which GOD puts into their mouths (e.g., Matthew 10: 18-39 and Mark 13: 11-27). None shall be able to gainsay nor resist the wisdom of GOD which they shall speak (see Luke 21: 12-28)].

11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon [note: Here we more clearly see the character of satan as the imitation christ, i.e., anti-christ].

12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed [note: satan’s manipulations through powerful miracles will totally deceive the Biblical illiterates who do not understand what is happening, even though GOD warned whosoever would listen to Truth (The Bible). This causes them to worship what appears to be GOD-ly attributes].

13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,

14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by [the means of] those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast [note: This “beast” is the one-world government]; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live [note: i.e., that they should replicate their kingdom after the pattern of Babel with it’s ideals resurrected (see Genesis 11: 1-9), including the Babylon of Daniel’s general time. Nimrod’s Babel was ultimately destroyed and halted by GOD while being scattered to the four winds and confused in communication by the scrambling of their language. The later kingdom of Babylon was destroyed by the sword. Today, Babylon is chiefly a “state of mind - confusion”, which will remain that way until the last days, at which time, the seat of Babylon (confusion) shall be rebuilt with Jerusalem as her capital - see Zechariah 2: 7 (a very important prophecy). The destruction of Babylon has been a reoccurring pattern throughout history, but the head of the kingdom, i.e., satan, has only received a deadly wound once while man has dwelt upon earth; and that being when Christ Jesus defeated death/satan].

15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed [note: only satan can give authority to the resurrected image of confusion - “the worldwide Babel” of the end-time, which desires it’s kingdom to be without GOD Almighty’s interference (see Psalms chapter 2 and Isaiah 8: 9-10)].

16 And he causeth all [note: poiei ◦ (Grk.) = “Appoints” all], both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads [note: This ultimately appoints all peoples of the kingdom to pledge allegiance to anti-christ, which automatically causes them to shun GOD and His Christ]:

17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name [note: Only those whose minds are marked (engraved) to accept the false name and “personage” of anti-christ, and numbered in the ranks of those who believe him to be Christ, are the only ones who shall be accepted, prospered, and appointed to take part in that blasphemous kingdom (see Isaiah 8: 11-18). Alternately, Christians are marked in their minds and hearts with the Name of Jesus and The Holy Spirit of GOD, to use all of their power (denotes the right hand which signifies strength and preeminence) to work for Him and His causes (see Ezekiel chapters 8 and 9). Also see Revelation 7: 3-4 concerning how GOD marks (seals) His servants inside their foreheads (minds / intellect)].

18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number [is] Six hundred threescore [and] six [note: “666” - see the section titled “666” below for a thorough explanation].

Concerning the “Mark of the Beast”, in Revelation 13: 16 above, the word “forehead” (as a “mark in their forehead”), is from the Greek compound word: “metōpōn [met’-ōh-pōhn]”, which means: “opposite of the face” (again, see Revelation 7: 3-4 concerning the forehead, where GOD seals His servants; as with a signet - which denotes a sealing by The Holy Spirit and is the same Greek word used there).

The first part of the compound word is: “meta”

which means: “in [-side], with [-in], of, amid, among, against”

The second part of the compound is: “ōpon [ōh-pahn’]”,

(this reminds you of the English word “open” for good reason),

and is related to two different Greek words.

One is: “ōps [ōhps]” ....... meaning: “the face, countenance”

The other is: “opē [ah-pay']” ....... meaning: “cave, cavity”

All together now ....... “in the cavity of the face”

“amid the countenance”

What is amid the face? ....... That’s simple .....

The brain or mind, which is inside the forehead (face).

Just as God seals His servants in their minds with Truth, likewise does satan seal minds with deception; of course only to those who willingly reject God’s Word to seek a more palatable doctrine which is easier on the ears and lifestyle.

Remember also, in Matthew 4: 1-11, satan quoted his version of “scriptures” while attempting to deceive Jesus, with one exception; he altered them to fit his own purposes. he knows God’s Word very well - better than most human beings. Compare satan’s recital of perverted “scriptures” in the aforementioned verses to that of Yahshua’s (Jesus’) True Scriptures in:

Deuteronomy 8: 3 - (tempting His flesh to break His fast),

Psalms 91: 11-12 - (tempting God to perform a miracle), and ultimately

Deuteronomy 6: 13-19.

Imagine that ....... shamelessly lying to The Living Word of GOD about His own Words.

As for the mark in the right hand (again, the right hand signifies power),

in (epi [ep-ee’] ◦ Grk. = with, in, through),

Think of this as doing a work with your hand(s), which we refer to in this generation as “making your mark”. Whatsoever your mind is sealed to think is right, that is what you put your hand to doing. If your mind is sealed and marked by GOD’s Truth through His Word and Spirit, then also are your hands marked and sealed by GOD to work in, for, with, and by those Truths. The same for deception. If one thinks something is right, that is what they will do, even if in reality it is wrong.

Now let’s take a look at one potential opening for deception. We’ll do a little groundwork in Isaiah chapter 14. There in verse 12 we see reference to satan. What is the deception contained in the Hebrew word “heylel”? This word is translated as “lucifer”, meaning: “morning star” or “day star”. And how is Jesus referred to? ..... “THE Bright and Morning Star”. There are many other similarities regarding names and satan’s imitation of Christ’s characteristics, but that will have to be a study for another time.

Now let’s read in Isaiah 14.

Isaiah 14: 12-15

12 How art thou fallen from Heaven [note: See Revelation 12: 7-17 and Luke 10: 18-20], O lucifer [note: heylel ◦ (Hebrew)], son of the morning ! [how] art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations ! [note: deceived the nations]

13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into Heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of GOD: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north [note: “The sides of the north” is where GOD’s dwelling place and Throne is]:

14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High [note: See 2 Thessalonians 2: 3-4].

15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

satan actually thinks that after he is cast out of Heaven, that he is forcing his way back in. I call that the height of deception; deceiving one’s self. Not only will satan deceive the unlearned into thinking he is God, but the Heavenly Father Himself will give them strong delusion that they would believe those lies (2 Thessalonians 2: 10-12), because they loved not the Truth; the Truth being GOD’s Word, which states Jesus would only come “AFTER” the working of satan - who works with all power, signs, and lying wonders (2 Thessalonians 2: 9). satan does not want to deceive the lost necessarily. he's already got them, but he definitely wants them to worship him. Merely butter them up with some false praise, prosperity, and peace - then get them to bring their family to him in order to seemingly help them (e.g., Matthew 10: 21), and the deceived will go into the lake of fire before he does (1 Corinthians 15: 26). It would be the so-called “deceived Christian” by which he does the most damage to GOD. He already accuses us day and night before GOD’s Throne (Revelation 12: 10), as he points to the faults of our frail human nature.

As a seemingly small digression, but in relation to someone being vulnerable to deception, Jesus states that a man who is a householder, brings forth treasures both new and old (in his home, but actually means ministry by the context). This means, if you are of GOD’s household, He has set both Old Testament and New Testament Treasures for us to use. We can not completely teach or even understand Scriptures without drawing from both, or by only compiling one subject into a list. There is nothing wrong with that but, it ultimately requires all subjects to be assembled to see the whole picture; here a little and there a little (Isaiah 28: 9-13). However, look at Isaiah 28: 11-13 to see how God deceives those who do not trust in His Rest. We can however, rest in Christ, even while satan is working his biggest lies on earth.

Here we will examine the actual number 666 in the Greek manuscript. We have already determined the Mark of the Beast is in the mind and in what you put your hand to doing. It's not an actual mark on the forehead or on the hand. satan is coming to imitate Jesus (anti-christ = “In the place of Christ” or “Instead of The Anointed One”). he does not want to frighten us with tattoos or implanted computer chips. The devil knows that the basic Christian understands The Lord does not want us to mark ourselves like the heathen. Besides, that would deceive no one and the Greek words have dispelled that myth.

Deception is a form of captivity which requires the free-will participation of the one being deceived; to go along willingly, not by force.

As we study the translation and transliteration of 666, taking it back into the original language, we get more marvelous revelations. After all, this is found in The Book of Revelations, which in the Greek ◦ (apokalupsis), means to “uncover” or “reveal”.

666 transliterated back into the Greek = (used as numbers - not a word)

“chi ( x = English equivalent) [khee]” - 22-nd Greek letter = 600

“xi (ks = English equivalent) [ksee]” - 14-th Greek letter = 60

“stigma (s)” - an obsolete letter which was intermediate

between the 5th and 6th, meaning “mark” or “stain” = 6

666 is pronounced as:

“khee-ksee-ss”

The Greek letters “chi - xi - stigma” from which the transliterated 666 in Revelation 13: 18 is derived, is as follows:

It even looks and sounds like a snake doesn’t it. It appears God is warning us in many ways.

Now let’s look at the significance of the numeral 6 in Biblical numerics; a fascinating field of study concerning number association with linked topics. The number 6 is generally connected throughout The Old and New Testaments with:

“mankind / angels” ◦ “idolatry / imagery” ◦ “anti-christ / sorcery”

This understanding paints another picture for us in relation to the number 6, and that being a union of things which GOD forbids.

Take a look back to Babylon (land of confusion) for an example in Daniel’s day; in Daniel 2: 32. As you read, count the number of items listed in the image which king Nebuchadnezzar envisioned in his dream. If you properly count the items contained within this form, they total 6.

We see in Daniel 3: 1 that Nebuchadnezzar builds the image of the beast. He already acknowledged to Daniel that his (Daniel’s) GOD is The GOD of gods, after The LORD gave Daniel understanding of the vision. Look at that passage and calculate “the numbers of the beast”:

60 cubits high x 6 cubits wide = 360 = The circle of the earth (prophetic)

This is a prophetic utterance given concerning the end time beast which will govern the whole world (Daniel 2: 28), whereas Nebuchadnezzar did not govern the whole 360 degree circumference of the earth; only a few degrees of the East and Asia Minor. GOD is indeed a Revealer of secrets, just as Daniel and Nebuchadnezzar recognized. How fascinating that Nebuchadnezzar’s idol calculated to 360, because history has shown that the Babylonian empire was the first to observe some mathematical equations which are still proven valid even today, and one formula they devised was, that there were 360 equal segments (degrees of time and space) to the earth’s circular surface. I am not presently aware of how they came to this conclusion in roughly 500-450 B.C., but it is extraordinary to say the least. I would venture a guess that the Mauzzim (“Mauzzim” ◦ Hebrew = “god of forces”) were involved in that revelation to the Babylonians. This refers to satan and his order of angels. Mauzzim is also rendered as “GOD’s protectors”, i.e., an order of the cherubim who performed certain duties in Heaven and earth, even so, we know that certain Babylonian astrologers inquired of the darker forces in the supernatural realm (see Daniel 11: 38). This is easy to envision, because Ezekiel 28: 14 describes satan as the covering cherub. he is also called death (see Hebrews 2: 14 and Revelation 6: 8 ◦ 20: 14). Death is a duty which must be performed at the end of the life span of all temporary carnal flesh; of both man and beast. Isaiah 54: 16 also tells of the duty of the devil.

Summary: The characters represented by 666 and their symbology are a union or confederation of things which God does not approve of and they unite to rule the world (study Daniel chapters 2 and 3; especially 2: 40-45). Although GOD allows this to happen as a form of judgment, better said to bring those into judgement, He does not approve of this confederation (see Isaiah 8: 7-22). Still yet, there is an even more amazing revelation to this prophecy when we read Revelation 13: 18 with understanding - as GOD expects us to; thusly:

Revelation 13: 18

18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count [note: psephizo ◦ (Grk.) = calculate] the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number [is] Six hundred threescore [and] six.

Through wisdom and observance which GOD gives to us, we must rightly divide to continue interpreting this passage of Scripture, because it reveals volumes to us. When leveraging understanding, we see this number contains mathematical descriptions of the end-times, akin to the calculation of Nebuchadnezzar’s beast image. This verse and it’s descriptive number, when viewed from the Greek language and void of any pretenses from the English translation, points us to see the number(s), (better said quantity), of those deceived by anti-christ at the end of days.

At this point, let’s read the literal Greek rendering from the Textus Receptus without any interference of previous English renderings (or any other):

Revelation 13: 18

18 ὧδε -[Here] ἡ -[the] σοφία -[wisdom] ἐστίν -[is]∙ ὁ -[Those] ἔχων -[having] τὸν -[the] νοῦν -[understanding] ψηφισάτω -[calculate] τὸν -[the] ἀριϑμὸν -[sum] τοῦ -[of the] ϑηρίου -[beast or wild one(s) or unruly one(s).]∙ ἀριϑμὸς -[the totals] γὰρ -[even] ἀνϑρώπου -[of man or mankind] ἐστί -[are], καὶ -[and] ὁ -[the] ἀριϑμὸς -[totals] αὐτοῦ -[of those] χξς΄-[666]∙

Revelation 13: 18

18 Here the wisdom is. Those having

the understanding calculate the sum

of the beast, or wild one(s), or unruly one(s). the totals

even of man or mankind are, and the

totals of those 666 (chi xi stigma).

With the wisdom given by GOD, we understand the totals of men and women numbered amongst those deceived by satan are upwards of two-thirds of mankind living on earth. This two-thirds are sealed in the heart of their minds to believe that anti-christ is the real Christ Jesus (see 2 Thessalonians 2: 10-12), because they refused warnings from GOD’s Word. But let’s be decent householders and bring an old treasure to adorn the new. This is not a new doctrine by any means; a little known doctrine, yes. GOD reported this end-time situation long ago in the book of Zechariah. We must have eyes to see, ears to hear, and faith to trustingly believe in The Word of GOD.

Zechariah 13: 8-9

8 And it shall come to pass, [that] in all the land, saith The LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off [and] die; but the third shall be left therein.

9 And I will bring the third part through the fire [note: one third brought through the fiery tribulation], and will refine [note: purify them] them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried [note: This testing involves some heat and discomfort, but brings forth a much purer vessel (see Daniel 11: 32-35 and 12: 10)]: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It [is] my people: and they shall say, The LORD [is] my GOD [note: Amen!].

So with GOD’s help, let’s complete this revelation. The proper calculation of 666 in relation to the tally of those deceived by the one world government and the anti-christ is:

66.6 percent of GOD’s souls shall be cut off and die after accepting the imitation savior.

Two-thirds properly computed:

66.666666666666666666666666666667,

and through Biblical numerics, the numeral 7 at the end expresses Divine intervention. The numeral 3 below is attributed to the Holy Trinity of The Supreme GOD-head and is also an indication of Divine intervention. (See above for reference to the number 6 in Biblical numerics).

Another thing I find fascinating is; I believe it was in 1998 or thereabouts, it was reported that the world population had reached the 6 billion mark. Do we need to wonder the significance of 6.66 billion living souls and the implication of 66.6 percent cut off? We must fully calculate what GOD has given us to work with. At least it doesn’t hurt to consider this.

Isn’t GOD amazing! Of those six billion plus souls on earth, He knows the numbers of hairs on each head (Luke 12: 7). He is the One True GOD for sure. With this additional insight, we know only GOD could know the number of living souls on earth at any given time. It shall all end precisely as He purposed it, but The Lord has allowed us to have a front seat view of His marvelous plan all of the way through. We even know where the bends in the road will be and what scenery to keep our eyes open for. How could we go wrong in sticking with the Creator of the roadmap?

Answer: We can’t go wrong.

GOD gives us understanding if we seek it, while rejecting the status quo teachings of an apostate generation or even a secular apostate civilization. But gaining understanding requires a lot of hard work too. Bless GOD and do yourself a favor in the process; your soul is worth it ....... Study hard with The Holy Spirit as your guide. Why else are we here? I can't see any other reason why.
